Band - Paul Pilot Biog

Paul Pilot’s sound is at once familiar and slightly strange. A mixture of those old country records that no-one buys from charity shops and an inventive lo-fi studio sound. Paul’s band captures the sound of twanging guitar, dusty drum machines, and old amps that might smell a little bit of damp. Pilot first graced the Irish Music Scene as singer/guitarist in “the amazing Pilots”. The debut album “Hello My Captor” was critically hailed and the single “The Price of Winter” was play-listed across Irish radio. Following the demise of this band, Paul stepped into a production role for other artists. Highlights have included none other than Duke Special (a radio eins record of the week) as well as UK blues/gospel singer Beth Rowley, whose album “Little Dreamer” charted at number 6 in the UK charts. But according to Paul “a strange wind had blown through his world” and the time had come to become an artist once again. He current EP entitled “I want this to be easy for you”sounds somewhere between Merle Travis and Mark Linkous it is at once joyful and heartfelt. It is available here on limited edition 7” vinyl with an accompanying CD for people who don’t know how to work a turntable.
