It’s not so much the artist but the music that counts, so let’s talk about that first.
Good music is pure magic. Speaking right to your soul. Analysing it, interfering. Synchronising to it’s wavelength, grabbing it, even it out or amplifying it. Always strengthen it. Making you happy. Even if sad is your present happy.
The Artist is just a channel. Bringing out the music that surrounds him at any given moment, in every given place, as good as he can. Relaxing. Receiving on all channels. Adding as less disturbance or falsification as possible.
Not going for the old patterns, the beaten paths, that have proven to be successful but try something new, different, exciting. It takes courage because it may not exactly be what people want to hear at the moment. Musically or as regards lyrics. Maybe not what any company is looking for at the moment. But it’s true and satisfying. It’s good for the heart, good for the soul. Good for a smile that goes out to the world – so it must be a good thing after all, for all, don’t you think?
Besides receiving the music the artist has to express it. Bring it out into the physical world. To do that a good musician must always be a decent craftsman, an artisan. That’s what he owes the universe for giving him all he is receiving. In return by performing his art, what he does is nothing less than creating a whole new universe. With all the “Ah’s” and “Oh’s” you experience when you look up in the sky.
